I fell in love with nephrology early in my medical training. Nephrology takes you everywhere: rounding at the dialysis unit, seeing patients in clinic and the hospital, even helping care for the most critically ill patients in the ICU. We manage complex electrolyte disorders, acid-base disturbances, acute kidney injuries, hypertension, and so much more. There is never a dull moment, and I love the intellectual challenge that comes with it. But what I enjoy most is the long-term relationships I get to build with my patients.
Managing kidney disease can be overwhelming. Knowing which treatment options are best, which medications are safe, what dietary changes need to be made, it can feel like a lot all at once. My philosophy of care is simple -empower patients with the knowledge and tools they need to confidently navigate their chronic kidney disease, and be by their side every step of the way.
