FAQs for Healthcare Providers

What types of patients should I refer to Dallas Renal Group?

We see any patients who may exhibit signs of kidney conditions, such as kidney injury or kidney stones, or diseases such as chronic kidney disease. If a patient has diabetes and/or high blood pressure, they are at higher risk of kidney disease, so it is important to screen these patients to prevent kidney damage. Our team of nephrologists have a vast array of specialties, from kidney injury to transplantation.

Are the physicians at Dallas Renal Group board certified?

Our team includes both board-certified and board-eligible nephrologists, all highly trained to provide exceptional kidney care.

When is the right time to refer a patient to Dallas Renal Group?

If a patient has suffered kidney injury or may have kidney stones, we want to see them immediately. If a patient has diabetes and/or high blood pressure, they are at higher risk of kidney disease, so it is important to screen these patients to prevent kidney damage. We want to be involved in early stages of detection if at all possible. However, if a patient is diagnosed at a later stage, we can help them manage the disease, and if they qualify we can help them get the waiting list for a transplant.

How can I refer a patient to Dallas Renal Group?

Fill out our Contact Us form, or call us at: (972) 274-5555 If the patient has not received dialysis before, they will need to have a vascular access created, which provides a way for blood to be removed from the body, circulate through the dialysis machine, and then return to the body at a rate that is higher than can be achieved through a normal vein. We work with Dallas Vascular Center, a Joint Commission Gold Seal-Approved facility.

What medical records are needed for a referral?

Required medical records may vary depending on the patient situation. Please contact our referrals coordinator for more information.

How long after I refer a patient will my patient be seen?

We work to see every patient as soon as possible. Wait times vary depending on which physician is available at the desired location.

How will I know how my patient is progressing?

We pride ourselves on open communication with our patients and referring physicians. We believe care is a team effort and want to communicate patient progress with you regularly. If you have any questions or concerns, we welcome you to reach out to our physicians directly.

How involved can I be in my patient’s care while they are with you?

We believe in strong communication, and will provide updates on the patient’s health as well as any new developments. We always listen to our patients and their other physicians to fully understand the condition. We like to keep and open dialogue among all parties involved.
