Dr. Haris Murad, MD

I have always been inspired by my father, a pediatrician, who would come back home with a smile despite a grueling 14 hour work day. Spending just one day in his clinic further made me realize medicine indeed was my calling. This field, particularly Nephrology, is the perfect balance between making a positive difference in people's lives while also being intellectually stimulating. I learn so much from my patients every day. Patients with kidney disease, in particular, have taught me about the power of resilience in the face of a failing organ system. To see them overcome their difficulties, and find new hope with transplantation is both sobering - and exciting. My philosophy of care is to always first hear and understand what the patient wants as part of their care, and then give my best medical advice based on their needs and goals. A mutually agreed upon care plan is exponentially more effective and leads to a high trust relationship between myself and them.
