Growing up in a nondescript village in rural southern India with limited healthcare, I was motivated to become a doctor to help those in need. “Service to Humanity is service to God.” This has been my guiding principle, and being a nephrologist, I get to practice this daily. Having experienced kidney disease firsthand in my family, I recognize the impact it has on the patient and the caregivers. The intellectual challenge that nephrology provides, along with taking care of complex medical problems, drew me to pursue this journey. My philosophy of care is to treat every patient like I would want my loved ones to be treated. Listening to their journeys and holding their hand with love, compassion, and empathy is my approach.
