The field of medicine is unique in that it strikes a complex relationship between the cerebral and the relational. I love medicine because it is challenging, stimulating, and intricate – no two days or patients look exactly the same. However, I got into medicine because I care about people. All people. As a provider, I am allowed the distinct opportunity to enter into a patient’s life at their most vulnerable and walk alongside of them.

Nephrology is distinctive in that the providers see patients, especially dialysis patients, very frequently. I love that I can develop long-term relationships with my patients and truly get to know them as humans, not just patients. Our practice is patient-forward and emphasizes honesty, advocacy, and exceptional patient care. All of these values are important to me as a provider, and I feel fortunate to be practicing with other providers whose values run parallel to mine.

I want my patients to know that I am on their side. I will strive to provide them with the very best care, involve them in making decisions about their health, and will always treat them with the respect and compassion that they deserve. The foundation of healthcare is the relationship between provider and patient, and it is a responsibility and privilege I take very seriously.
